Commodore (retired) Muhammad Farooq Mirza

Commodore (retired) Muhammad Farooq Mirza, Sitar – e – Imtiaz (Military) was born on 28 Sep 1933. He, after obtaining his basic training from the (British) Royal Naval Academy BRITANIA, HMS DEVONSHIRE and HMS NEWFOUNDLAND, was commissioned in Royal Pakistan Navy on 1st September 1954.
He specialized in the field of Navigation and Operations in 1961-2 from UK. He also qualified his staff course from Pakistan Air Force in year 1967-68. He served on board almost all types of ships of Pakistan Navy in various positions and commanded Pakistan Navy Minesweeper MUHAFIZ and Destroyer TIPPU SULTAN. He was the first Commander 10th Patrol Craft Squadron (COMPATRON – 10) of Pakistan Navy.
He held various staff appointments at Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQs), Naval Headquarters (NHQs)/ formations eventually ending up as Director Naval Operations at NHQ in 1974-76. Thereafter he was deputed on a three years (1976-79) foreign assignment as head of Naval Planning Staff at Central Treaty Organization (CENTO) Headquarter, Ankara, Turkey (1976-79). Then the officer became the first Commander North (COMNOR) of Pakistan Navy, followed by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Supply) and eventually Director General (Training) in JSHQ on a Rear Admiral assignment for which he was cleared and approved by the President of Pakistan.
However the officer chose to retire which was also approved by the President in the rank of Rear Admiral.
After retirement from Pakistan Navy he worked for three years as Director North with Automobile Corporation of Pakistan (ACP). He also served as senior consultant /advisor for British investment consortium for few years.

Commander (Retired) Zharrar Farooq

Commander (Retired) Zharrar Farooq got commission in Pakistan Navy in 1994. He Specialized in the field of Above Water Warfare and served on board PN ships and establishments at various positions. He qualified his PN Staff Course in 2006 and later served on several staff appointments at Naval Headquarter, Islamabad. He served in the Ministry of Defence Production as Deputy Director in Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), for 5 years (2008 – 2013). In last leg of his service in Pakistan Navy, he was appointed as Pakistan Navy representative in the Civil Government setup as Deputy Director/ Director at Military Wing (Defence Planning Wing) Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan. The officer has rich experience of working in Civil and Military circles of the Government and has complete knowledge about the working within Government departments.
